Join us for our exclusive IRL Symposia, intimate art experiences hosted by artists carefully crafted to ignite your imagination and foster meaningful connections. What can you expect from the Mae Experience? You will receive an invitation for an intimate visit to an artist’s studio with fellow Mae members. Upon arrival, an introduction session will allow everyone to get to know each other better. Following this, immerse yourself in the studio visit, workshops, or performances. The experience continues with the unveiling of the symposium theme and prompts for group discussion, where sharing perspectives is encouraged (but optional). Finally, enjoy a free space for connecting with each other, transitioning from the digital to the real-life art experience seamlessly.
The program for the event begins with a private tour of the show 'THE OTHER,' led by the artist Yvonne Andreini. During this guided tour, attendees will gain unique insights into Andreini's artistic practice, exploring the themes and inspirations behind her work. Following the tour, guests will indulge in the Convivium Dinner Banquet, where they will savor a specially curated menu designed by the artist herself, crafted to complement the themes and concepts explored in the exhibition. After dinner, the evening continues with a Symposium Discussion, offering attendees the opportunity to engage in a group conversation focused on the interplay between relationality and resonance within the context of contemporary art. Finally, participants will have free time to connect with one another, fostering connections and conversations among like-minded individuals. This informal networking session encourages attendees to discuss art, share ideas and projects, and explore what inspires them in a relaxed and welcoming environment
About the artist host: Yvonne Andreini - The objects in Andreini’s paintings behave like actors on a stage. As part of this theatrical play, they stir up the laws between space, subject and time. Starting with figurative motives, such as pictures of situations in which people come together, as dinner tables... Yvonne Andreini processes these in several layers, increasingly abstracting them until they become rhythmic network. In search of the spirit of things, the initial situations awake in vibrant still lifes.
Join us for an exclusive journey into the world of colors, creativity, and connection at Denkert's studio, alongside fellow members of the Mae community. Embark on a guided studio tour, where Denkert will personally showcase his artistic process and creations. Following the tour, engage in a Symposium group discussion, exploring the themes of colors, energy, and movement in contemporary art. Conclude the evening enjoying drinks and forging meaningful connections with like-minded individuals.
About the artist host: Alexander Denkert's creations explode with recurring bursts of vivid color, applied with a boldness that demands attention. Denkert's perspectives spin an illusion that leaves viewers as if caught in a whirlwind. His creativity springs forth from the every day: layer upon layer of visual narratives collide, forming a new abstract story that invites interpretation.
This current body of work is driven by the idea of a rebirth and is heavily influenced by material and color. The works suggest growth, an emergence of something new, playfulness but also uncertainty. Most of all, it's an intimate visual journal of my process and responses to life.At the heart of my work is a playful exploration of materials, a love of living systems, and an evolving curiosity about the intersections of the different facets of the human condition. I work intuitively with various materials such as tree roots, paint, metal, and biofilms, which are often pushed to their physical limits and past their breaking point. These breaches are a part of the process so spontaneity and experimentation are vital tools, which I find to mirror both the fragility and resilience found in nature and in human endeavors. The focus of my work is primarily on sculptures and installations that invite viewers into imaged biological systems where dark theories and lively structures are in dialogue.
During the symposium, I would also like to include a quick cacao ceremony to open our hearts, as opposed to offering alcohol. This would serve as an homage to my Mexican roots and an invitation for attendees to embark on a sensory journey that resonates with the essence of my artistic narrative surrounding identity.
Workshop conducted by Araiké Da Silva, created by Mestre Alemão.
This workshop aims to explore traditional Brazilian rhythms from samba and capoeira using the body as a musical instrument. It is open to everyone. Body Percussion offers a transformative experience regardless of skill level, improving the sense of rhythm, promoting teamwork, mind-body coordination, and creativity. The idea of using the body as a musical instrument took shape in Italy while my father and I were planning to play samba in the port of Naples with friends and students. Despite the guards stopping us from entering the harobour with instruments, we turned the situation around by creating a large circle where everyone made music with their own bodies. From that moment on, we started transferring and adapting Afro-Brazilian rhythms to Body Percussion, using it in our samba capoeira and seminars. Since then Araiké also started to integrate Body Percussion to his artistic practice, by creating collective performances, using the body as an instrument and activating sculptures through body and sound.
What to bring: Yourself! Comfortable clothing in which you feel at ease.
Duration: The workshop extends for 2-3 hour session (including a small break with drinks and snacks).
